Annual Mass and Reunion 2011

The Annual Mass for deceased former pupils and teachers of St Gregory's will be celebrated at St Kentigern's RC Church on Friday 25th November 2011 at 7.30 p.m.

St Kentigern's is situated on Hart Road, off Wilbraham Road, Fallowfield, M14 7LD.

After Mass we will retire to the bar at the adjoining St Kentigern's Social Club.

The attendance at this Mass has fallen slightly in the last 2 years. I would be grateful if you could encourage your Old Gregorian friends to make an effort to be present at this yearly celebration"

To All Old Gregorians

Dear Gregorian,
The Football Club is still thriving. This Season we have decided to run only 2 teams a First and a Reserve Team who play in the Premier Division and Division 2 respectively of the Manchester Football League. Our First Team won the Premier Division of the Manchester League last Season. The reason we have decided to run only 2 teams this Season instead of 5 as last Season is partly due to finance but also because we wish to prepare for moving up the National League System to the North West Counties League in the near future. We intend to start Youth Team s (Under 18’s Teams) next Season which will, our Club feel, be one of the ways which will enable us to recruit quality players to our Club for the future.

Running the Football Club is very expensive. The hire of the Platt Lane Complex for matches and for training is costing us £11,500 this current season and we need to raise a total of around £20,000 to finance the Club’s operation this Season. Any financial help, by way of a donation, you can give the Club and/or any help in other ways, e.g. advertising in a Club Match day Programme, marketing support, fund raising, administrative help, would be very welcome.

The following are some of the ways we aim to raise money this Season:-

SPORTSMAN'S DINNER 2012
The Annual Sportsman’s Dinner will be held on Friday 11th May, 2012 at the City of Manchester Stadium. The guest speaker will be Tommy Docherty and the compere will again be Vince Miller; the comedian will be announced shortly.

If you would like to take a table at the Dinner or buy some tickets please let me know.

Old School Tie Price now reduced to £12.50 Please buy one at the Annual Mass or send me a cheque made out to "Old Gregorian’s AFC"

"100 Club"
As I mentioned above it costs the Football Club a lot of money to keep going and to offer a high quality of training and organized football to its members. Funding for the Club comes from sponsorship (our main sponsor is an old boy, John Wilson, of the Wilsons Insurance Group); from the Annual Sportsman’s Dinner, from donations from old boys and supporters; and from subscriptions and membership fees from players.

We started a "100 Club" in February 2010 and we have 75 members in the Club many of whom are old boys of St Gregory’s. "100 Club" members pay £5 per month for 1 number for £10 for 2 numbers by standing order or £55 for a year’s contribution for 1 number or £100 for 2 numbers.

There is a monthly draw for 4 cash prizes. If we recruit more members we may be able to increase the number of prizes and/or the value of them.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the "100 Club" please email me terry.oneil43@ntlworld.com; or ring me on 0161 442 6839.
